World Religion & Conflicts

What is a religion? I believe it is the faith of each individual to follow the life in a specific manner by performing certain day-to-day rituals. When few like-minded people meet they identify themself as a group following those specific rituals, so they try to identify themselves with certain name. This is how the religion is formed. Its like certain individuals working in an organisation, following a well defined process, do's & don'ts. They identify themselves with that organisation.
We human being always strive to keep our identity and will protest all the moves which may pose threat to this identity. Be it at the individual, family, orgamisation, religion, state, country, continent or at the planet level. At every level we try to map each other with certain identity.
I am always surprised when I hear the friction between two communities or religious groups. I wonder what is the big deal and what we are trying to prove by fighting over these things. But then, it is the basis of our existence. If we were not self centred, we would not have invented the wheel and we would be at the same primitive level. The industrial revolution was another example which shows the positive side of the competition. Even the cold war between USA and USSR proved to be a boon for humanity as this saw two countires trying different approach to reach the space and do betterment in technology.
All the above things doesn't imply that I favor the fight on the name of religion or country. I believe in the concept of UNIVERSAL BROTHERHOOD which the ancient Indian Saints have prophecied. We believe that we can't survive if we believe in only "ME". We need to believe in "WE" and work towards the betterment of the society.
